CHARITY EVENTS
Running isn’t just about fitness — it’s also about supporting our community. Throughout the year we organise and take part in a range of charity runs, fundraising events, and community activities to help raise money for good causes.
SUPPORTING GOOD CAUSES
Each year, club members take part in events that support both local charities and national organisations. These events can include organised races, sponsored runs, and club-led fundraising challenges.
Whether it's raising money through race entries, sponsorships, or community events, we’re proud to support causes that matter to our members and our local area.
As always, Angels reflects who we are as a club:
we don’t run to win — we run together, for something bigger than ourselves.
Coverntry to Overseal - Ultra Marathon June 2026
Following on from our review of Angels 2024 and 2025, we are pleased to confirm our intentions for Angels 2026.
Our main charity partner will be Parkinson’s UK, chosen in honour of a long-standing and much-valued club member Steve Margetts who continues to live bravely with the condition. Alongside this, our fundraising will also support Dementia UK and the Alzheimer’s Society, with scope to consider additional local charities as plans develop.
The headline event will take place on Saturday 20th June 2026 and will be a point-to-point run from TBC back to Overseal, with total mileage expected to exceed 30 miles. A proposed 24-hour event was discussed but voted against, allowing us to fully focus on delivering one meaningful, well-supported flagship run.
Angels 2026 will remain a club-led and club-first event. Places will be limited, with ORC members given priority. Minor exemptions may be made for close family and friends, but other running clubs will not be invited to take part in the main run. That said, we are keen to maintain Angels as a wider community initiative, and local gyms or clubs may be invited to organise their own associated events under the Angels name to support our chosen charities.
We will also be looking to make each water and food stop a sponsored space, with our friends at the Robin Hood Pub already kindly committing to two stops at £100 each – a fantastic start.

The Angels Run - Ultra Marathon 2025
Starting in Birmingham and finishing in Overseal. We raised £7600 for Birmingham Childrens Hospital and The Royal Orthopedic Hospital.

CLUB FUNDRAISING EVENTS
As a club, we occasionally organise our own charity-focused events, which may include:
Sponsored group runs
Charity fun runs in the local area
Special themed running events
Community fundraising activities
These events bring together runners, families, and local supporters to raise funds while enjoying the social side of the club.
GET INVOLVED
